Weekend Reflection- The Home We Left Behind

Why am I up at 6'o'clock in the morning on a Saturday? I don't really know myself. I just know that I can't sleep. This week went by way too fast. I don't think I even accomplished much until yesterday. My husband took the kids to Grandma and Grandpa's yesterday so I could straighten up the house and get the laundry caught up. Maybe that is why I am up at 6am on a Saturday. Or maybe not.

I finally downloaded the photos off our camera the other day. That is when I came across this one. I get depressed every time I look at it. It reminds me of all the happier times I had in that house. Wisconsin will always be my home. I still feel like I am on vacation here in California. We moved from a spacious ranch home to this tiny little one. Over half of our belongings don't even fit in the house so our garage is going to be forever cluttered with boxes.

Back in Wisconsin we lived in a quiet little neighborhood just down the street from a lake. We had a park the size of a city block right across the street from our house. Ciara loved to go to what she called then the, "ducky." The park had these little toys for tots where they could sit on them and bounce. They were on springs attached to the ground. One of them was a ducky. That was here favorite toy at the park, hence the name ducky.

Here in California I wake up every morning to the neighbors rooster. At precisely 10 'o'clock every night the news chopper hovers around our neighborhood. Every single night. Somewhere around the hours of 1 to 3 am the train goes by. And it is a loud train. We also hear it several times during the day. At night I can't sleep. What do I do when I can't sleep? I think of home.

Spring time in Wisconsin is so beautiful and this year I am missing it. I had a flower garden in the front of our house. This time of year is when the tulips start to bloom. I had a large variety of tulips. I am so glad that I took pictures of them last year. They were so beautiful.

We used to go for walks as a family in the spring and summer. We could walk around the neighborhood or even downtown. Sometimes I took the kids for a walk by myself. Last fall when Conan was real little a stroller ride was the best thing for him if he was fussy. Here I don't feel comfortable walking around my neighborhood with out my husband. I've seen homeless people, drunks, you name it walking around the streets here. It just isn't as safe as back home.

The weather out here is supposed to be nicer. Last week I was freezing because the temperatures were in the sixties. When I checked the weather for back home the temperatures there were ten degrees warmer. I miss home. But I don't think I will ever be able to go back.

We got a letter from a realtor from back home. He enclosed a copy of the foreclosure filing from the county court. Yes the bank finally filed the foreclosure on April 14, 2008. It is now official and I can't believe I didn't cry.
