I am blessed with a smart husband who is a wonderful father, three beautiful healthy children and a home to live in. The Lord blesses everyone with gifts. In thanksgiving we should share those gifts to do good in praise of Him.
When I was a child I was very gifted in music. I sang with the choir and learned how to play the flute. By the time I was in ninth grade I was first chair flute in our band. I also shared that gift of music with my local church. Every Wednesday evening I would attend choir practice to prepare for 10'o clock mass on Sunday. I also played during Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter. Praising the Lord with my music made me feel better about myself because I knew that it made people happy to hear my music. I continued playing my flute at that church into my young adult life.
After I got married my husband and I moved to a town an hour away from that church. There I was able to continue sharing my gifts with the local Catholic church. I joined the choir playing my flute and singing alto.
Out here in California I haven't found a place to share my gift of music yet. So instead I am sharing my gift of writing with the community, country and world...whomever decided to read this blog. I pray every day that God gives me the words to write. I have dedicated this blog in His name. After all, He is the one who blessed me with this gift.
What are your gifts? How do you share them to please the Lord? We all have different gifts. My oldest daughter loves animals and the environment. She takes good care of our pets and helps me with my garden. When she is old enough I would love to get her more involved in helping animals and the environment. God has also blessed her with a wonderful memory. Her memory is nearly photogenic. This helps her to do well in tests and this year she joined the Religion Decathalon at school. She is on a team of eight kids. They all meet before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays to learn prayers, more about the Catholic Faith and St. Paul. In November they will compete with other area schools by taking a test and reciting their prayers. I am very proud of her and know she is using her gifts for the Lord.
Thank you Lord for blessing all of us. Thank you for blessing us with wonderful families, good health and all our many talents. Please give us the grace to use those talents to do good for others and to please you.
Amen
