The weather out here is starting to get warm and nice. Conan has been playing outside more and Mom is getting lazy with the potty training. This weekend it will be nearly 80 degrees outside so I am going to try this tip that I learned.

Warm weather is the best time to potty train your child. This especially works for boys. Let your little one run around in the privacy of your own backyard without any clothes on. I know this may sound ridiculous especially coming from a practicing Catholic, but trust me it works. You can choose to leave the potty chair outside or let him learn how to pee in the bushes. Without a diaper on he will have a better idea of how is body works. Eventually he will venture over to the potty. This is how my mother-in-law trained my husband. So it works. I'm going to do this with Conan and let you know how he does.

Don't forget to share your potty training tips and update us on your little one's progress! Check out more Potty Time Tuesday articles for potty training tips!

My oldest is a boy & my youngest a girl. I had the hardest time with my son. What worked for me was just totally getting rid of the diapers, pull-ups etc. and putting him in underwear. He learned not to go in his underwear eventually unlike the pullups which I feel they just keep going in.

My daughter was easy, she wanted to go on the potty and was practically potty trained at 2.

I actually kind of did that with my daughter, except in the house. I just let her run around without her diaper and left the potty chair out in the open. She had a few accidents but pretty much got it down right away!

You know this sounds like a very good idea and fun. I'm going to keep this in mind as my son gets older. Hopefully we will have a more secluded area so he can run around naked in the yard.

Potty training, or as I like to call it, the HELL of parenthood.

I shouldn't complain too much, both my girls trained early, but it seemed like it took forever for the accidents to stop.

You'd get days, heck weeks, of perfect potty, then 5 days of accidents non-stop. I think that's what drove me the craziest!!

My biggest potty tip? Take away the diaper, take away the pull up. Put on those big girl/boy underwear and let them get wet. They learn so much faster when they are soaked, than they do with the safety net of a pull up.

My 2nd tip? Don't use a little plastic potty that sits on it's own. Get the nice cushy potty seat that sits right on the normal toliet. That way they learn from day 1 that you go potty in the bathroom ONLY. I see too many ppl let their kids sit anywhere in the house with the plastic full toliets and I think it can be confusing!

My youngest is actually a potty youtube star. (It's not a gross, weird video like you might think) but she started ON HER OWN to want to use the potty at just 14 months. (YES MONTHS!)

Watch the video here

I promise, totally cute and work safe. Nothing shot below the belly.

That sounds hilarious. Probably a good idea though. It would be great for me to use with Will now since he just today pooed in the potty and then got up to tell me so excited that he walked around the house pooing some more. He dropped pellets all over like a bunny of something. Outside this would have been better.

Love and Prayers,

Tim

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm happy to say that I'm long past potty training! I potty trained 4 kids, but I don't have any good advice. The girls were easier than the boys though.
