Weekend Reflection #60 | Pregnancy, Blogging and My Alright Life

It's time once again to reflect on the past week. What were some of the positive things that happened? What really bothered you? Did you laugh? Cry? Stand on your head? Whatever you did this past week I want to hear it. Writing down all the crazy things that happened over the past week is a good way to deal with stress. As our lives get busier and busier along with it is stress. It is time to let it all out so you can enjoy your weekend. Sorry this is up so late. I had another busy week and I am trying to get caught up this weekend. Why does this always happen? I can't wait until I am able to hire a virtual assistant. It seems like I spend way too much time during the week checking my e mail. I wish I had someone who would check my e mails and visit all my social networking sites on my behalf. Hopefully someday I will be able to afford to hire someone to do just that. But right now it is just up to me.

This past week I was able to welcome some very talented women to Healthy Moms. I am so excited to see other bloggers sharing their talents and expertise with the readers of this blog. Now I am working on doing a minor face lift to Healthy Moms so that their articles are featured. I don't want any of our visitors to miss out on what our contributing bloggers have to share. Stay tuned.

Now that I have more bloggers helping me out I am hoping to bring the Healthy Moms Dictionary back starting next month. I placed it on the back burner because I've been so busy with other projects.

I've got CMT on right now and Darius Rucker's video, Alright is on and I absolutely love that song, but I think this is the first time I've ever seen the video. I swear this song describes my life right now. And the lyrics help me to remain positive, because "it's alright with me."

This week went by way too fast, just like every week does around here. I survived my first full week on bed rest, although I wasn't very good. I put my 12 year old in charge of the little ones and the house. Although she did do a good job she still can't do everything. I had to help Conan with his potty training and change him if he had an accident. On Wednesday I also took him to get his 2 year old photos taken and we were running out of food so I had to pick something up for the kids to eat. I went to the bank a couple of times and drove the kids to my in laws a couple of times too.

It is hard to really rest when I need to take care of my family. Especially now that Chris is working 10 hour days starting today. I don't think I am going to rest at all today. But when I don't rest I pay for it. I've had several nights where I've been in so much pain that I just could not sleep. I know when I've had contractions too because I wake up covered in sweat.

I'm drinking plenty of fluids and CJ is a very active baby so I am not too concerned. The doctor didn't put me on any medication to stop the contractions so if the baby wants to be born then so be it. I am 33 weeks now so it is pretty close anyway.

I would love to hear how your week went. Join in the fun and don't forget to leave your link!

Thanks for posting the Darius video! I SOOOOOO miss Hootie and the Blowfish. Great memories. Can't wait to hear more solo stuff.

It is good that we spend time doing constant reflection of our lives; it can serve to put things into perspective and can remind us to be grateful for the people and things in our lives. One thing that we don't want to, is to lose our directions and to forget that we should be living in the moment.

Oh my...it does sound hard to stay on bed rest with all that activity to manage! I hope you're ok!

I am hanging in there but certainly not obeying the whole bed rest. And I am paying for it too because my contractions just won't stop. I had to fix dinner this evening because my husband thought that our 12 year old would be able to cook pasta. Yeah, right! Someone has to feed the kids and he can't because he won't be home until 9:30 this evening. I didn't get to "rest" hardly at all today. Sure I sat on the couch, but I am supposed to be lying down. Like that is ever going to happen!

It's great to have help with your blogging. It can get a little overwhelming at times.

Ah! to have a virtual assistant. Wouldn't that be awesome. I totally cannot afford it but it would be nice to be able to do more social networking. I find that I don't have any time to do it now.

That is great that there are so many positive developments with Healthy Moms. You are amazing that you can do such an excellent job with this site and raise three kids, plus one on the way! I think it is impossible for a mother of three to stay on bedrest, especially with a husband working late hours. God has been helping you to make it this far!!!!

Thank you for the comment about Logan's comparison photos with my husband and me, and also about the website I mentioned, and attachment parenting. It's nice to "talk" to mothers like you with similar styles of raising our kids. I know what you mean about Dr. Sears - I am becoming addicted to the Sears' books!

My computer is acting up...not sure what is posting and linking today. (I guess the holiday on-line traffic?)

This was an up and down week today...pregnancy hormones had me snipping at my mom and hubby. I need time to reflect a bit and not feel so stressed out...some good news...my baby is kicking as I type :) I am getting a great stroller for the baby (yay!) and this weekend we have lots of great plans.

Too, I got to spend some fun time with my sister in law on Monday, as we rarely get to see eachother. We had a fun day having lunch and shopping...nice!

By the way, I was reading through the pregnancy resources you have...great info! I'm so happy and appreciative you offer all this :)

I have a question about bed rest...does this mean you can't get up from bed *at all*??? Or just that you have to lie down for, let's say, half the day?

Cascia said...

Penelope, to answer your question about bed rest. Yes bed rest means that you should be lying on your side all day long. I usually cheat a little bit so I can blog. But I am only allowed to get up to go to the bathroom, take a shower and fix simple snacks for myself.

Some women who are placed on bed rest are even more restricted. They even have to use a bed pan and can only take sponge baths.

When I was pregnant with number 2 and number 3 I was placed on bed rest for the same reason as this one. But my circumstances were different so I was able to obey all the rules. I actually rested on the couch all day with those two. But now I am unable to rest like I should. So I am suffering the consequences by getting a ton of contractions and being in pain all day long.

I hope this answers all your questions. Thank you for your comments and compliments!
