Tony Horton, personal trainer to the stars, likely most famous for his P90X program, has turned 50. He now swears by yoga for keeping him young in is "golden years."

More and more studies are saying that yoga is key for overall health and longevity. Even if you’ve never tried yoga before, regularly practicing some simple yoga stretches and poses when you’re older can give you back some of the energy and flexibility of your younger years. Here’s a brief list of some of theo health benefits.

After six months of taking beginner yoga classes, men and women ages 65-85 reported:

* Feeling more energized compared to how they felt before they started
* Less pain overall in their day-to-day lives
* Having better balance
* Greater flexibility in their trunk and limbs

If you are not yet in your "golden years," consider the benefits for your now that will last long into the future.

Yoga may be good for your heart, too. A study used a group of people with heart disease who adopted a “yoga lifestyle,” a holistic approach to health including eating right, getting enough sleep and maintaining a generally positive attitude. Heart disease lesions diminished in almost half of the people who had signs of the disease at the beginning of the study.

Recently, I found a wonderful site where you can try wonderful yoga classes right from your computer. Check it out at MyYogaOnline.com

Until next week, have a safe, happy and healthy week ahead.

I so love yoga!!!! It gives me the best feeling ever. Unfortunately I can't keep up with doing it in the morning. So I'm going to have to see how I do in the evenings. But I'm also using the EA sport active. On my rest days I plan on doing some yoga.

I haven't tried yoga but I've heard that it is great for dealing with stress. Thanks, Jen!
