I decided to rename this meme. Weekend Reflection just wasn't working right. It is the weekend and time to unwind, relieve some stress and discuss the past week. So grab a cup of coffee and join us here at Healthy Moms. What were some of the positive things that happened? What really bothered you? Did you laugh? Cry? Stand on your head? Whatever you did this past week I want to hear it. Writing down all the crazy things that happened over the past week is a good way to deal with stress. As our lives get busier and busier along with it is stress. It is time to let it all out so you can enjoy your weekend. If you don't have time to write all about your week just answer the Weekend Unwind question found at the bottom of this article. Grab the button code, make your blog post and don't forget to leave your link with MckLinky!
How does the saying go, "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man feel healthy, wealthy and wise." Well I think I have the healthy part down and hopefully the wise part as well but I'm still working on the wealthy. That is pretty much how my week went.
Even though I get up somewhere between 3am and 5am I still feel like there isn't enough hours in the day for everything. Below is the life of a work at home mom (and blogger) with four kids.
You rise and shine bright and early and brew the coffee with the hopes of savoring just one cup before the baby wakes. Then you tip toe into the living room to get the laptop because a stubborn three year old decided to sleep in the recliner instead of her own bed. After that you nearly trip over the cat while getting your morning cup of joe. You finally sit down at the dining room table with the computer, coffee, pen and notebook and savor the quiet for a few minutes because literally that is all the quiet you are going to get for the day.
Once you take your first sip of coffee you hear the baby crying. It is time to put your lovely Christmas mug down even though it isn't Christmas, and drag yourself down the hall to the bedroom to rescue the baby from his torturous hunger pains. Of course after he has had his fill of delicious mommy milk he's full of energy and ready for the day. You place him in his infant seat and hope he won't fuss and wake his sister still asleep on the chair in the next room.
Finally you return to work. You check the clock and notice that you've been awake for two hours but haven't checked a single e mail or written anything in your blog. Once the first paragraph is typed you reach for your coffee and take a sip and it is cold. Then you hear, "Mommy, Mommy!" coming from your two year old's bedroom. You let him out and before long the whole house is noisy with the sound of hungry kids.
You serve breakfast, your husband wakes up, the kids and husband are fed, the cat is put outside, your husband leaves for work and takes two kids to school, the dishes are washed, the laundry is folded and put away and diapers are changed. Before you know it it's lunch time and all you have is that one short paragraph written in your blog.
After lunch and feeding the baby what seems like a dozen times, you put your two year old down for his nap and once again the house is quiet. It is time to get back to work. Finally you complete your blog post that you have been working on all morning. And by the way your cold cup of coffee in the Christmas mug is still sitting next to your laptop. You ponder taking a sip.
By this time it is mid afternoon and your favorite television show is about to start. This is the only adult show you get to watch, ever. But just when you flip the television on you hear a child singing his ABC's in the neighboring bedroom. You also realize that you only have a half an hour before it is time to pick up your older kids from school.
Your kids get picked up from school, homework gets completed, dinner is made, dinner is served, bedrooms get cleaned up, the toys in the living room get picked up, PJ's are placed on tired kids, stories are read and the kids are put to bed.
You return to the laptop which has been moved to another room only to find out that you have over 100 e mail messages and 30 comments that need to be moderated. With a yawn you decide to leave it all for the next morning. You pick up your cold cup of coffee in the Christmas mug and dump it. Time to go to bed and wake up early to do it all over again.
The Weekend Unwind Question this week is:
Name one thing that you just don't seem to find the time to do during the day.
