Common Sense for Eczema and Dermatitis Sufferers

Eczema dermatitis is a common skin condition that often appears as a dry, red, patchy rash that is usually extremely itchy. The rash gets worse if the person is exposed to trigger factors such as dry skin, irritants, allergens, stress, heat or sweating. Young children and infants can also develop eczema.

Chemical irritants found in most skin care products can make eczema worse. If you or your child suffers from this condition below are some chemicals that you should avoid.

  • methylparaben
  • ethylparaben
  • isoparaben and
  • butylparaben
Shampoos and body washes contain chemicals that help create foam. These are harsh and irritating to the skin. You should also watch out for lanolin oil and propylene glycol. Some people also have allergic reactions to natural ingredients like nut oils.

Children have very sensitive skin. In the United States 10-20 percent of children suffer from eczema. Nobody knows what exactly causes eczema, but if your family has a history of the skin condition, asthma or hay fever your child is more likely to develop eczema.

There is no cure for eczema but you can keep it under control by using the right skin care products. It is not life threatening, scarring or permanent damage is rare, and by age two half will grow out of eczema and 85 percent by age five.

Dermatologists recommend that you keep your child's skin well hydrated in order to manage eczema. When searching for creams to treat your child's eczema make sure you use something that is fragrance free and paraben free. Exederm has created a wonderful line of skin care products that are perfect for your child's delicate skin. They use only the mildest ingredients and do not contain fragrance, color or dyes, parabens, lanolin sodium laureth sulfate, propylene glycol, formaldehyde or phthalates.

Exederm Baby Care products carry the coveted National Eczema Association's 'Seal of Acceptance.' After using their low foam shampoo and body wash and the hydrating eczema cream on my baby's eczema and cradle cap I noticed a huge difference in his skin. The cradle cap isn't as flaky and his skin is less red and irritated.

You can purchase Exederm on their website. Order $50 or more today and you can get free shipping. Buy any 3 and save 20 percent. Make sure you use code "save20" at checkout.

You can also win it by leaving us a comment. Please visit Exederm.com and let us know what baby skin care product you would like in your comment.

I would love to see what the intensive baby moisturizer is like! Our son who has had Eczema since he was a baby had the worst time with this until he was three when we gave him Vidazorb bellyboost probiotics. They have been an answer to prayers for him and he is now soo soo much better. However, we are still very careful about what we use on his skin and though his Eczema is nearly all gone now, he still gets dry skin. This would be great to try!
