Ultimate Body Sculpt Kettlebell DVD Review

I have been interested in giving Kettlebells a try for a while now, but have been hesitant after hearing stories of injuries and inexperienced instructors. So, I was excited to find Kettlebell expert Lauren Brooks on Facebook, and even more excited to find out that she had her own DVD. I asked if I could review it and she kindly sent me a copy along with an extra for a giveaway.

This DVD is fun and super effective. It contains instructions, a warm-up, a short 12-minute workout, and a longer 40-minute workout. As a Kettlebell novice, I loved the introduction and demonstration segments. Lauren reviews the moves methodically so you can follow along and learn proper form. She also reviews recommended starting weights depending on your level of strength.

After practicing my form and reviewing all of the instructions, I decided to give the 40-minute workout a try. I rotated between a 10 pound or 15 pound bell depending on how challenging the exercise was for my personal strength. It was an excellent workout. In between high-intensity segments there are 60 second rest periods. You can use this time to either relax and get some water or do some light cardio like jumping jacks or running in place. By the middle of the workout, you’ll appreciate the rests!

In reviews I have read, some have complained about Lauren’s personality. She’s very matter-of-fact, but I prefer this approach versus some of those instructors who sound like “woo-hoo” cheerleaders.
I am thrilled to now have some Kettlebell experience and plan on making these workouts a part of my weekly routine. Thanks to Lauren for a great introduction to this fun and interesting strength/cardio combination.

FIVE IDEAS TO PACK A HEALTHY SCHOOL LUNCH IN A SNAP

(NEW YORK) August 31, 2010 – Packing a healthy school lunch is a great way to get your kids the nutrients they need to power through the school day. Lunches filled with unhealthy choices with an excess of fat, sugar, sodium, and calories may have the opposite effect and leave kids sluggish or cranky.
Worse yet, unhealthy foods may contribute to long-term health problems like high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a non-profit organization founded by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation to combat childhood obesity, offers these tips to pack a healthy school lunch with punch. For more great tips and information on what you can do to make your community healthier, visit www.HealthierGeneration.org.
  1. Super sandwiches start with whole wheat bread. Packed with added boosts of fiber, whole wheat bread can also be more filling.
  1. Make salad the main event. Include a lean protein like hard boiled eggs, beans or grilled chicken to make a meal.
  1. Pack in the good stuff. Sneak veggies like lettuce, cucumbers, or shredded cabbage in between slices of lean turkey or ham.
  1. Out of time? Put together healthy items that need no preparation: a piece of fruit, a lowfat yogurt, individual packs of baby carrots and sliced turkey in a tortilla make a balanced lunch.
  1. Keep it cool. Water and low-fat milk are best drinks for children. They can be frozen to help keep foods in your child’s lunchbox cool and will defrost for drinking in time for lunch.
About the Alliance for a Healthier Generation
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation works to address one of the nation’s leading public health threats – childhood obesity. The goal of the Alliance is to reduce the nationwide prevalence of childhood obesity by 2015, and to empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices. Founded in 2005 by the American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation, the Alliance works to positively affect the places that can make a difference to a child’s health: homes, schools, doctor’s offices and communities. The New and Improved Ear Doc isn't Much Better than the Old One

Don't waste your money on this cheap piece of plastic.

A little over a year ago I was contacted by the Ear Doc to write a review on their product. When we got the first one it didn't work very well and it fell apart.

"All of the promises that this company says this instrument can perform sound great but it needs some major improvements. For one thing, it is light weight and made of cheap plastic. The Ear Doc takes two double A batteries which are not included. This tool is so flimsy that it wouldn't take much to break it. All we did was put the batteries back in because they fell out and the darn thing fell apart. I was very disappointed." Read More

Recently I was contacted by the company once again. They stated that they have improved the Ear Doc and was wondering if I would look at the new and improved version.

Before I got the chance to look at it my on year old managed to rip it out of the package. He also broke it. Again the plastic is still flimsy and cheap. It is extremely lightweight and reminds me of a child's toy. My little one was able to break it in less than ten minutes.

If you are thinking about purchasing the "New and Improved Ear Doc," don't waste your money.

*Disclosure: I received an Ear Doc from Ear Doc in exchange for this review. All opinions are accurate and 100% mine.
