Hair loss in women is not nearly as common as hair loss for men, however research indicates that approximately twenty five million females suffer from hair loss in the United States alone.

Heredity is the main cause for hair loss in women, followed by stress, poor diet and illness. Hair from healthy individuals grow from the follicle at an average rate of about 1/2 an inch per month. Strands of hair grow for about 2-6 years, then they rest and fall out. About 85% of your hair is growing and 15% is resting.

Other causes of female baldness, when the hair falls out and is not replaced by new hair, include:

  • Aging
  • Menopause
  • Skin diseases that may have scarred the hair follicles
  • Iron deficiency
  • Chemotherapy and beta blocker medications
  • Vitamin deficiency
  • Syphilis

If you believe you may be suffering from female hair loss below are some symptoms to look out for and discuss with your doctor.

  • Your hair is thinning on the top and the crown of the scalp.
  • The front hairline is remaining.
  • Hair loss in women doesn't usually result in total baldness or near total baldness like it does in men.

There are ways to prevent hair loss in women. Taking over the counter or prescription medications is an affordable treatment for hair loss in women. Topical creams, lotions and shampoos also have proven to help with hair loss in both men and women. If you are serious about treating your hair loss you can also discuss surgical options with your doctor.

That's why women after pregnancy loses some hair. Hair loss related to pregnancy happens after given birth has something to do with the changes in estrogen levels of women's body. Hmmp. makes me think why my wife complains all the time when she first deliver our first baby.

Hair loss occurs within 3-6 months after giving birth. Why does it happen at this particular time? The explanation for this is that your hormones, estrogen and progesterone are at a high during pregnancy. The moment you pop out that baby out, these can send another barrage of changes in your body, particularly a drop in these two hormones which can lead to hair loss

I was having a lot of hair loss after I had my second baby and of course my doctor said it was normal and it was due to hormonal changes however I just wasn't comfortable with that answer and started looking online for nay natural treatments/remedies and found Ervamatin from Einsteinproducts.com and it just had a lot good reviews and was natural and it worked for me.

Changes in hormone levels or thyoroid imbalances are common reversible causes. A large number of drugs have been reported to cause or possibly cause, diffuse Alopecia.
