More Than Just Another Mom Blog... Healthy Moms Magazine founded by Cascia Talbert is The Number One Health Blog for moms in the United States. Here you will find information on everything from fitness, nutrition, parenting, pregnancy, faith, family, beauty and fashion.

The most popular New Years resolution for Americans is to lose weight or get healthy.  Every January I join the bandwagon and try my best to spend more time working out and eat less junk food.  If you are not a member of a gym and you live in a colder climate like I do, exercising may feel more like a chore instead of a fun and enjoyable activity.

Michael Volkin
Military fitness expert Sergeant Michael Volkin invented an exciting, challenging and creative way to workout alone or with your friends.  Strength Stack 52 Fitness cards incorporates Nano-sport periodization into a fitness routine.

"Everyone loves a challenge," says inventor Sergeant Michael Volkin,  "and nano-sport periodization is a term that describes completing a quick fitness challenge with a randomized (or non-routine) type of exercise"

Nano= small or mini
Sport= playing a game with a challenging component
Periodization= dividing exercises into segments of different intensities

Volkin recommends that you play 2-3 card games a day with your Strength Stack 52 in order to incorporate nano-sport periodization.  After a week of playing the fun games with my husband and alone I have noticed an increase in energy and I am sleeping better than ever.  The exercises on the cards are fun and challenging. Each card also has a video that can be accessed through a QR code with your smart  phone.

According to, countless studies prove that 3-5 mini workouts throughout the day are more effective than one larger workout.  The benefits of mini workouts include:

-easier on your joints
- increased metabolic rate for longer periods of time (your body burns calories more efficiently)-stimulates muscle fibers for longer periods of time
-less stress on your muscles, tissues and organs
-shorter recovery time
-increased mental focus (easier to stay focused on completing a 10 minute workout as opposed to a 60 minute workout)

You can find fitness games to play with your Strength Stack 52 at or submit your own.  To learn more about Strength Stack 52 fitness cards or to purchase a deck visit
